Porsche: Auspicious Golden Path, Ra (traditionalsilk), Silk, Pure Gold Leaf, 81.5 × 127.5 cm, 2026
The artist rendered the Porsche Crest and a radiating mandala expanding toward the cosmos in gold leaf on Ra featuring a star motif found in Goryeo Buddhist paintings. Building on the traditional formative beauty of this star motif, the work harmoniously combines the Crest with the radial structure of the mandala. The translucent traditional beauty passed down through royal wedding veils and the robes of bodhisattvas depicted in Goryeo Buddhist paintings is layered with auspicious golden symbolism, expressing a formative beauty in which tradition and modernity meet. The mandala, holding the stars and the cosmos within it, extends outward from its center, embodying infinite possibility and a wish for ever more brilliant growth and prosperity.

Jewelry Box, Cupronickel, Lacquered Wood, 30 × 30 × 22h cm, 2026
This piece brings together traditional Korean craftsmanship and Porsche’s commitment to technology and innovation. Building on traditional techniques, the artist added intricate carving to the cupronickel and decorated the horse of the Porsche Crest and the surrounding peony motifs with black mother-of-pearl (jagae). In particular, the peony motifs were carved and inlaid into the metal plate, while the use of jopaebeop (the technique of cutting and engraving mother-of-pearl) gives the forms a distinctive three-dimensional quality. By combining traditional lacquer techniques using natural lacquer with contemporary sculptural elements, the work embodies a harmony between natural materials and the values of technology and innovation.
The overall composition is centered on the Crest. The peony symbolizes wealth and prosperity, while the mother-of-pearl lines are rendered in a pattern radiating outward toward the world, expressing a sense of continuous growth and flourishing.
