정구호 작가의 ‘백동(白銅)’ 시리즈는 조선시대 반닫이와 장석(裝錫)의 구조를 현대적으로 재해석한 작업이다. 금속 장인이 제작한 전통 장식을 투명 아크릴 구조 안에 삽입해, 사라질 듯 남아 있는 한국적 조형미를 극도로 미니멀한 형태로 구현했다. 작품은 금속 공예와 현대 디자인, 건축적 감각이 결합된 설치 작업에 가깝다. 특히 기포 없이 구현한 고투명 아크릴 기술이 눈길을 끌며, 금속 장식은 박제된 유물이 아니라 빛 속에 떠 있는 기억처럼 보인다.

Jung Kuho’s Baekdong series is a modern reinterpretation of the Joseon-era bandaji, a traditional Korean chest, and jangseok, its traditional metal fittings. Traditional ornaments crafted by metal artisans are embedded within transparent acrylic structures, expressing a Korean aesthetic that seems to be fading yet lingering in an extremely minimal form. The work can be understood as an installation that brings together metal craft, contemporary design, and architectural sensibility. In particular, the high-transparency, bubble-free acrylic technique draws attention, making the metal ornaments appear not as preserved artifacts, but as memories suspended in light.
