우재경 [한국화]
우재경은 전통 수묵화에 평생 동안 천착해온 한국화가이다. 일찍이 서예를 익힌 그는 영남화단의 대가로 평가받는 죽농 서동균의 문하로 들어갔다. 오랜 시간 재야 작가로 활동한 그는 이미 1970년대에 기존의 정형화된 산수화법이나 실경산수에 얽매이지 않는 독자적인 세계를 구축했다. 속도감 넘치는 필선이 특징인 그의 작품은 한지에 붓끝이 닿는 듯 마는 듯 경쾌하게 유동하며 보는 이에게 시각적 쾌감을 불러일으킨다. 신항섭 평론가는 우재경에 대해 거칠고 길들여지지 않은 야성과 같은 회화적인 본능이 그대로 살아있으며, 홀로 자적하는 구도자적인 태도로 일관함으로써 세상이 요구하는 바에 휘둘리지 않았다고 평한 바 있다.

Woo Jae-gyeong [Korean Painting]
Woo Jae-gyeong is a Korean painter who has dedicated his life to the art of traditional ink painting. Early in his career, after studying calligraphy, he became a disciple of Juknong Seo Dong-gyun, a master of the Yeongnam art scene. Throughout much of his career, Woo worked independently, and by the 1970s, he had developed a distinctive style that broke away from conventional landscape painting and realistic depictions of nature. His work is marked by dynamic brushstrokes that seem to effortlessly glide across hanji (traditional Korean paper), creating a visually captivating experience. Art critic Shin Hang-seop has praised Woo Jae Gyeong for preserving a raw, untamed artistic instinct, likening him to a solitary seeker who remains unaffected by worldly demands.
