오스카 4관왕 영화 ‘기생충’의 가구 디자이너로 알려진 박종선 작가는 스위스 바젤 아트페어, 미국 디자인 마이애미, 밀라노 디자인위크 등에 꾸준히 참가하면서 한국적 목가구의 아름다움을 전 세계에 소개하며, 한국적인 디자인을 세계에 알린 주역이다. 오랜시간 그림을 그리다 한국전통공예건축학교에서 조선시대 목가구 만드는 법을 배웠다. 뒤늦게 가구제작을 시작한 그는 조선 목가구와 셰이커 가구(18~19세기 미국 그리스도교 종파의 구성원들이 추구했던 가구 유형. 기능적인 부분을 중시하고 불필요한 장식들은 제거한 간소한 디자인이 특징)에서 많은 영향을 받았다.

Known for designing furniture featured in the four-time Academy Award-winning film Parasite, Park Jong-seon has consistently introduced the beauty of Korean wooden furniture to the world through international events such as Art Basel in Switzerland, Design Miami in the United States, and Milan Design Week. He has played a leading role in bringing Korean design to a global audience. After spending many years as a painter, he studied the craft of making Joseon-era wooden furniture at a school of traditional Korean craft and architecture. Having begun furniture-making later in life, he draws inspiration from both Joseon wooden furniture and Shaker furniture, a style developed by members of an American Christian sect in the 18th and 19th centuries, known for its functional approach and simple designs stripped of unnecessary ornament.
