미르체아 텔레아가(Mircea Teleagă, b.1989)는 루마니아 라더우치 출신으로 현재 런던을 기반으로 활동하는 현대미술 작가로, 코번트리 대학교에서 시각예술 학사를, 런던 유니버시티 칼리지 슬레이드 미술대학에서 회화 석사 학위를 취득했다. 루마니아 혁명이 일어난 해에 태어나 공산주의에서 자본주의로 이행하는 격변의 시대를 겪으며 성장한 개인적 경험이 작품 세계의 근간을 이루고 있다. 텔레아가의 회화는 시간의 흐름과 그와의 특별한 관계성을 탐구하며, 감상자로 하여금 작품 속 새로운 풍경을 경험하게 한다. 그의 작업은 또한 인간존재의 흔적, 내밀한 공간, 기후 변화의 위험, 그리고 디지털 세계에 대한 은유 등을 다룬다. 구상과 추상의 경계를 넘나들며 풍경과 경계 지대, 전이 공간을 주제로 유화를 제작하며, 색채를 겹겹이 쌓아 올리는 방식으로 장소에 깃든 기억과 역사, 감정을 화폭에 담아낸다.

Mircea Teleagă (b. 1989) is a contemporary artist from Rădăuți, Romania, now based in London. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Coventry University and a master’s degree in Painting from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Born in the year of the Romanian Revolution, his upbringing amid the upheaval of the transition from communism to capitalism forms the foundation of his artistic practice. Teleagă’s paintings explore the passage of time and his particular relationship to it, inviting viewers to experience new landscapes within his works. His practice also engages with traces of human existence, intimate spaces, the risks of climate change, and metaphors for the digital world. Moving between figuration and abstraction, he creates landscapes, borderlands, and transitional spaces in oil, layering color to capture the memories, histories, and emotions embedded in a place.
