노상준(b.1976) 작가는 서울시립대학교에서 환경조각을 전공하고 첼시 런던예술대학교에서 순수미술 석사 학위를 받았다. 작가는 캔버스 혹은 찢어진 골판지를 붙이고 채색한 배경 위에 종이 조각들을 배치하는, 마치 미니어처같이 섬세한 작업으로 잘 알려져 있다. 작가의 경험과 상상을 바탕으로 연출, 편집된 작품들에서는 세상을 바라보는 흥미로운 관점을 볼 수 있으며, 멀리서 보면 평범한 회화인 듯 보이지만, 가까이 다가서면 입체적인 종이 조각이 보는 각도에 따라 시각적 재미를 준다. 조각부터 회화까지 폭넓은 작업세계를 보여주고 있다.

Roh SangJun (b. 1976) majored in environmental sculpture at the University of Seoul and received a master’s degree in fine art from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. He is known for his delicate, almost miniature-like works, in which he arranges cut-paper pieces on backgrounds made of canvas or torn corrugated cardboard, which he paints and layers. Drawing on his experiences and imagination, he stages and edits each work to present an intriguing perspective on the world. From a distance, his works appear to be ordinary paintings, but up close, the three-dimensional paper pieces reveal a playful visual quality that changes with the viewer’s angle. His practice spans a broad range of media, from sculpture to painting.
