작품의 주제인 <Croisements>(크루와즈망)은 프랑스어로 ‘교차’를 의미하는데, 여기서 ‘교차’란 나와 타자, 나의 문화와 타자의 문화가 서로 교차하여 어우러지면서 새로운 영역이 생성되고, 그리하여 우리의 인식이 확장되어 나간다는 의미를 지니고 있습니다. 이러한 주제를 작가는 다양한 마티에르를 사용하여, 작업과정에서부터 시각적인 결과물에 이르기까지 일관되게 드러내고 있습니다. 이번 전시에서는 창덕궁 수강재의 역사적이고 전통적인 공간과 설치 작품이 만나 교차함으로써 새로운 시각적 장면을 발견하고 전통과 현대의 대비를 넘어 새로운 시각으로 세계를 바라볼 수 있는 기회를 만날 수 있을 것입니다.

The theme of the work “Croisements”—which means “crossing” in French—explores the idea that when the self and the other, or one’s own culture and another’s, intersect and blend, a new space is created, leading to an expanded perception of the world. The artist consistently expresses this theme through the use of diverse materials, from the process of creation to the final visual outcomes.
In this exhibition, the historical and traditional space of Changdeokgung Palace (Sugangjae) intersects with contemporary installation art, inviting viewers to discover new visual experiences.
