소피 폰 헬러만은 1975년 독일 뮌헨 출생으로, 현재 런던과 마가트에서 활동하는 현대미술 작가이다. 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미에서 학사 학위를, 런던 왕립예술학교에서 석사 학위를 받았으며, 현재 독일 카를스루에 국립미술대학교에서 회화 교수로 재직 중이다.
작품은 꿈결 같은 분위기와 서정적인 색조가 특징이며, 순수 안료와 아크릴 에멀젼을 혼합해 넓은 붓질로 가벼운 터치를 구현한다. 문학, 신화, 역사, 개인 경험을 결합한 상상력 풍부한 장면을 창조하며, 관람객을 환상적인 세계로 안내한다.
1998년부터 런던과 뒤셀도르프 기반 예술가 집단 hobbypopMUSEUM의 창립 멤버로 활동했다. 작품은 테이트 브리튼, 메트로폴리탄 미술관, LACMA 등 세계 주요 미술관에 소장되어 있다.

Sophie von Hellermann, born in Munich in 1975, is a contemporary artist now working between London and Margate. She studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf before completing her master’s at the Royal College of Art in London, and today she teaches painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Her paintings are instantly recognizable for their dreamlike atmosphere and poetic use of color. Working with pure pigments mixed with acrylic emulsion, she applies sweeping brushstrokes that create light, playful, and spontaneous surfaces. Literature, mythology, history, and personal memories often come together in her work, forming imaginative scenes that transport viewers into fantastical, almost storybook worlds.
Since 1998, von Hellermann has also been part of the artist collective hobbypopMUSEUM, based in London and Düsseldorf. Her works are included in the collections of some of the world’s most renowned museums, such as Tate Britain, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and LACMA.
