김삼식 [한지장] – 국가무형유산 / 김춘호 [한지장 전승교육사]
국가무형유산 한지장 김삼식 선생은 9살 이후 한평생을 전통한지 제작에 매진해 오고 있다. 전통한지는 천 년이 훨씬 넘는 역사를 가진 우리 고유의 종이이다. 문경한지는 루브르 박물관의 보존지로 채택되어 로스차일드 컬렉션 가운데 판화(성캐서린의 결혼식)을 시작으로 프라고나르와 렘브란트, 니엘의 동판화 희귀작품 등에까지 사용되었으며, 이번 9월에는 문경한지로 제작된 직지심체요절 복본용 직지가 파리 유네스코 본부에 전시되었다. 김춘호 한지장 전승교육사는 김삼식 한지장의 막내아들로 아버지를 이어받아 충북대학교 대학원에서 제지학 석사 학위를 받아 국내 한지의 공정에 대한 연구의 첫발을 내디뎠다.

Kim Sam-sik [Hanji (Korean Paper Making)] – National Intangible Cultural Heritage / Kim Chun-ho [Hanji Transmission Instructor]
Master Kim Sam-sik, recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage holder, has devoted his life to the craft of traditional Korean paper making, known as hanji, since the age of nine. Hanji, Korea’s unique paper, boasts a history of over a thousand years. The Mungyeong Hanji produced by Master Kim has been chosen by the Louvre Museum for use in conservation. It has been used to preserve works such as the Marriage of Saint Catherine from the Rothschild Collection, as well as rare prints by Fragonard, Rembrandt, and Niel. Notably, in September this year, a reproduction of the Jikji Simche Yojeol made with Mungyeong Hanji was exhibited at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Kim Chun-ho, a hanji transmission instructor and the youngest son of Kim Sam-sik, is continuing his father’s legacy. He earned a master’s degree in Paper Science from Chungbuk National University, marking the start of his research into the production processes of Korean hanji.
