신경철[회화]
현대작가 신경철 작가는 대구를 기반으로 활동하며, 추상표현주의적인 회화 작업을 시도하는 화가이다. 그의 작업은 밑 작업으로 드로잉을 한 후 색을 칠하는 통상적인 회화 작업의 순서를 전복해 물감을 묻힌 붓으로 형상을 그리고 그 형상 위에 연필로 드로잉 하는 새로운 방법론적 가능성이 돋보인다. 새로운 회화의 방식으로 그려진 이미지는 재-이미지화, 탈 이미지화되어 가시적인 대상으로서의 풍경에 한정되지 않고 정제되고 평화로운 풍경, 즉 모두가 갈구하는 근원적으로서의 풍경을 담는다. 구상과 추상의 경계에 있는 그의 작업은 기억과 경험의 경계마저도 허물어버린다.

Shin Kyung-chul [Painting]
Contemporary artist Shin Kyung-chul is based in the city of Daegu and is known for his abstract expressionist paintings. His work stands out for its innovative approach, reversing the traditional painting process of drawing first and then applying color. Instead, Shin paints forms with a brush and then draws on top of them with a pencil, showcasing a new methodological possibility. The images created through this novel technique are re-imagined and de-imagined, transcending the visible landscape to capture refined and serene scenes—landscapes that evoke a primal yearning. His work, situated at the boundary between representation and abstraction, blurs the lines between memory and experience.
